Sharon Jewell (2023)
Hi Kimberly! I was wondering what you think about some of the agencies that say they want headshot/résumé and reels by mail only? On the list from Backstage the details will not how agencies preferred to be contacted, but even for those that say "mail only" they will also have the agencies' email addresses. It seems so dated to me to send it through snail mail as opposed to email. Is it still recommended to just use the mail? Do they want reels on a CD? How else would you send it in mail? I just figure if there’s an email listed I could send it by email. Is that recommended? What has been your experience? Thanks!
Kim's Answer: Hi Sharon! Great question! So anytime you find these agent lists on line you have to take all the information with a grain of salt. Much of it is out of date which I why I encourage once using these agent listings to also then go the agency website and see if you can find more updated submission guidelines. So I would do that first before making any decisions about whether to email or mail. Secondly, I feel like anytime an email is offered out for public consumption then you can use it as a means of communication. Especially now when we don’t know whether or not people are actually in an office or working from home. Re: Reels: Update for 2025: I would give a clear link in your letter to a google drive folder witrh your reels, you personal website with all your reels or share your actors access link that they can copy/paste into their browser.
