So, if I acquire management and my band does a a gig, do they get a commission off that gig? And also, does said manager collect commission for work you do out of state as well (if you work different markets--NY/BOS for example)?

Kim's answer: It is something you can negotiate contract wise..s it would need to be discussed with them. However with that said, keep in mind that if the Manager is truly acting as a "manager" and not being an "agent" under manager guise (which happens in the non-union world where they are more so only acting as an "agent" to submit clients for jobs) then more then likely YES you would have to pay them a commission as its performing career related and they are helping to manage your career as a whole. quite potentially even help you elevate in that realm as well.
